Steffie Young Readers Choice Awards
Write an original story that has 200 to 1000 words. Students from any grade can submit a story. You may enter 1 time, individually and the story may not be a classroom project or retelling of a story, movie or video game. Please remember to have your name, your teacher’s name and the title of your story on your first page.
Enter a story with neat writing or typing, and remember— spelling, punctuation, and capitals count! Stories sent via in a digital format are preferred as they are easier to work with at the publishing stage. Mrs. Charanduk’s grade 12 - 30 class will read the stories submitted by the students and will make a list of their favourite top stories. The finalists’ stories will be read by students in our school, and they will vote for their favourite story. The winner will receive a $25.00 gift card from Chapters and a copy of The Steffie, a book published by our school with stories by this year’s winners and runner-ups. Runner ups will also receive a copy of the book.
Tips: Think about the words you are using for your story and descriptions. Try to write so your reader is able to feel like they can really imagine your story, or feel they are really there. You may choose to do some research to make your story feel more real.
Stories are due January 27nd 2019.
Please bring your story to Ms. Sandberg in the library. Winners will be announced once the published books have been received by Ms. Sandberg. The winner will likely be announced at the April assembly.
*Digital copies of stories are preferred. Please use a font that is 12 or larger and have the story double-spaced.*
